Why This Small Team Delivers Big Results

You'd be surprised how often I get asked this.
"Are you a franchise?"

It's actually the second most common question I hear.

And the answer is no, we're not. HomeScan is proudly run by a tiny (but very organised) team: just me, Sara (Canine Family Planner™) and my brilliant right-hand woman, Isobel.

People are always surprised, and I understand why. From the outside, we do look like a much bigger operation. We're responsive, consistent and clear in our communication, but that's not by accident—it's by design.

I'm not your average small business owner. I've built HomeScan from the ground up with structure, intention and sky-high standards. Every part of our process has been carefully created to support dog owners with clarity, confidence and fairness. No judgment. No shortcuts.

Isobel and I work in sync, supported by software and systems that allow us to deliver exceptional service every time. It's rare to find that in a small business, but then again, I've never been one to do things by halves.

Because when you blend decades of experience with genuine care and solid frameworks like our Three Pillars of Dog Breeding and The S.A.R.A. System, you create something rare — a service that's helpful and reliably brilliant.

If you're wondering what the most common question I get is, it's: "How do you pronounce your name?"

It’s Sara, pronounced SAR-RA, not Sarah. That said, I always joke that I’ll answer to just about anything… even the occasional swear word!

"How many scans do you do in a day?"

Now, I don't run around like Superwoman with a scanner strapped to my back. I'm not chasing numbers. My business naturally attracts a different kind of client—thoughtful, responsible dog owners who see their pet as a treasured member of the family, not just a breeding dog.

So the honest answer is: it's not about how many. It's about how well. Every scan is a chance to guide someone through a safe, successful and ethical breeding journey. And that level of support can't be rushed.

I don't consider HomeScan a fertility clinic, as my services extend beyond basic canine breeding. I've worked hard to become an industry leader by creating innovative products such as Pregnancy & Puppy Predictor® and Home Breeders Puppy Playbook and sharing my knowledge and experiences through presenting to breed clubs, writing books and blogs, and co-hosting the Breeders Brew Podcast.
